String works selected for the 2026 ASTA Virtual Summit


Delighted that my four of my works for strings have been accepted for the 2026 ASTA Virtual Summit New Music Reading Sessions this July!
“Within Deep Currents” for string orchestra; “Turning Tides” for youth string orchestra; “Balancing on the Edge of Shadows” for violin and piano, and “Afternoon Reflections” for solo cello.
It’s an honor to have the opportunity to share my music with the innovative teachers of the ASTA community and future up-and-coming string musicians!

Exhibition Opening at Hilltown Commons


Kind of a crazy creative turn and journey back into visual arts… re-embracing an earlier passion for sculptural spaces. But over the course of the past three years, through two terrific intensive artist mentorship programs (Critical Forum in Troy, and NYC Crit Club Canopy program) I’m now at an exciting “first” as a multidisciplinary artist… a solo exhibition of my sculptural installation concepts, scaled large with my music and video, as well as drawings and photos.
Friday, March 13th – Friday, April 10th in the Gugg Gallery at Hilltown Commons, Rensselaerville, NY!
With thanks to Matt Rogowicz & film crew of WMHT’s AHA! program for coming to the Gugg Gallery at Hilltown Commons to create this wonderful documentation of my solo show and to include an overview of my career!

String works selected for the ASTA 2026 National Conference


I’m honored that four of my string works have been selected for the ASTA 2026 National Conference “New Music Reading” Sessions!
Within Deep Currents – for String Orchestra, Relays – Violin Duet, Resolves – for Cello, and Steps in the Night – for Double Bass will be presented in the Applied Studio: Solo and Chamber Music sessions, February 25th-28th in San Francisco.
This is a collacated conference between the American String Teachers Association and the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

It was a thrill to show two sculptural works in “The Weight of What Was“, a brief pop-up art exhibit in Chelsea marking the culmination of the totally fantastic year-long NYC Crit Club Canopy Program Artist Mentorship

Along with works by the nine other TERRIFIC artists in Amir H. Fallah’s Canopy Program Cohort – with works by: A/BEL, Adia Jamille, Ashley Beerdat, Emily Mackin, Huma Aatifi, Jennifer Chadwick, Jessica Alazraki, Jose Urbina, Madeline Winter.

Over the past year, ten artists have worked closely with mentor Amir H. Fallah—gathering regularly to share their work, exchange critique, and reflect on what it means to create art within today’s socio-political climate. Spanning a wide range of media—from painting and sculpture to installation—this exhibition is unified by a shared sense of urgency. These artists pose difficult but necessary questions: What does it mean to create in times of upheaval? How do we hold space for grief, resistance, memory, and joy—simultaneously? How do we remain present with the weight of what we’ve inherited, while still imagining ways to move forward?

“Alternating Currents” for string quintet was selected for a performance reading at the June 3rd Open Mic. I’ve never heard this piece performed, so I’m psyched to hear if it works. (??*?!)
Plus, it’ll be fun to meet some people (in person) from the Contemporaneous Salons, after attending many of their virtual salons of deep conversations, great community, intriguing works in all art mediums. P.S., Brooklyn Art Haus looks like a cool venue.

Eckert / Bechtold -NY Premiere “Balancing on the Edge of Shadows”

This is a terrific concert program of songs and chamber music by living women composers, performed by seasoned artists Sara Paar, soprano, Lynn Bechtold, violin, and Marcia Eckert, piano. The music, including three premieres, is inspired by contemporary life, as well as the more distant past, going as far back as the thoughts of a Mesopotamian priestess. Humor, frustration, pathos, and playfulness all can be heard in this imaginative and varied concert.

Bassoonist, Christin Schillinger performs “BaDaBaDaDa”

Renowned bassoonist, Christin Schillinger performs “BaDaBaDaDa: A Riff for a Wind”, Saturday, April 26 at Hockett Family Recital Hall, Ithaca College.
A faculty member at Ithaca College, Dr. Schillinger leads “Ithaca Bassooniversity” and has collaborated with numerous composers to premiere new works. She has released several solo albums, including Bassoon Unbounded (2018), and authored a highly respected book on bassoon reed-making.
Co-sponsored by New York Women Composers and in collaboration with other faculty members, this recital promises an evening of exquisite music and artistry.
Free, open to the public.

Pianist, Amy Wurtz’ performs “Always Almost”

On the music side of life, I am so honored by Amy Wurtz’ mesmerizing performance of my piece Always Almost for Day 12 of her “Women’s History Month” series. In her performance she “inhabits” the music so soulfully to convey the emotional expression of the music and what I was feeling when I wrote this work. (P.S. At the end, there’s also a peak at what I’ve been up to lately as a multidisciplinary artist.)

And, check out the full series of daily short piano pieces by women composerspianist, Amy Wurtz’ “Women’s History Month”. This is a terrific and incredibly generous project, supported in part by the New York Women Composers “Seed Money Grant.”
